There are some things that nobody should do, and a 2,000 mile cowboy-camping road trip on a 20-year-old R6 is one of them -- but I chose to do it anyway, either out of arrogance or some form of masochism. Without specific stops in mind, I set a goal of reaching the old-growth redwoods near the Oregon border, which I had wanted to see for a long time but never got the chance. I left my home with a sleeping bag, a toothbrush, and a small duffel bag filled with fresh underwear and socks.
